Abstract: Visual analytics plays an important role in solving the real-world problems. Cultural heritage conservation, is one among many domains, where visual analytics may contribute. Due to natural and artificial factors, the cultural heritages are suffering gradual degradations or sudden disasters. By the deployment of modern sensors, and by also using computer modeling and simulations, we may obtain many data about the surrounding environment, and the information about the cultural heritages themselves. Now we have moved to a new preventive conservation era in which we can apply new information technology including visualization and visual analytics, to build a correlation model about the conservation environments and the cultural heritages. So we may analysis and discovery the risk factors threatening the heritages. In this talk, I will talk about our recent research experience and practices on how to apply vis and VA technologies in the conservation of Chinese cultural heritages. |
